Maa Bhadarkali Temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeethas found in India. It is also known as Savitri, peeth, Devikoop, and Kalika Peeth. This temple is dedicated to Mata Sati, it is believed that the right ankle of Mata Sati fell in a well of Kurukshetra after which it became a worship place by devotees.
history
Mata Sati married lord shiva without the consent of her father, King Daksha. Lord Brahma appointed King Daksha as a Prajapati and inaugurated a yagya, in which he invited all the deities and gods but didn’t invite his own daughter(Mata Sati) and his son-in-law(lord Shiva). But Mata Sati came to that ceremony unexpectedly and Prajapati Daksha got very angry to see his daughter and insulted her and lord shiva in the availability of all the guests. She ended herself by stepping into yagna fire. When lord shiva came to know about this incident they went there with sorrow and enraged in his heart held the dead body of Mata Sati and started the deadly Tandava. After seeing this Lord Vishnu saved the world from this catastrophe by using his Sudarshan chakra dividing the body of Mata Sati into 51 parts, which in 51 different places of earth is known as Shaktipeeth.
